About Night Shift

Night Shift has deep roots in Baltimore's industrial east side. Our home at 1725 S. Ponca Street sits in a building that dates to 1940, in a part of the city long shaped by factories, warehouses, port activity, and the rhythm of shift work.

Before it was Night Shift, the venue was known as Ponca Inn, a neighborhood bar that served the local working community. Later, it became Eclipse, continuing the address's nightlife legacy as the surrounding area evolved. By the early 1990s at the latest, the venue was operating as Night Shift, beginning the era many Baltimoreans still remember today.

Archived web records confirm Night Shift was established at this same address by 1998, with the same recognizable branding tied to the club.

Over the years, Night Shift became a familiar part of Baltimore's after-hours scene. Its location and identity made it a longstanding destination on the east side, with generations of guests passing through its doors.

Under new ownership in 2025, the club began a new chapter. While Night Shift continues the legacy of this historic address, the current era is focused on something different: revitalizing the building, improving the food and drink program, raising hospitality standards, broadening the entertainment experience, and reintroducing the club to Baltimore as a stronger, more polished destination. With expanded hours and a renewed vision, Night Shift is building on its history while leaving the weaker parts of the recent past behind.
